3-axis gyroscopes or 3-axis accelerometers
An Accelerometer is a passive mass-spring-dumper system manufactured at silicon level. External accelerations (±a) generate a moving mass displacement and a consequent change in capacitance. Accelerometer: Stand alone device capable to measure AC and DC accelerations along three orthogonal axes.
A Gyroscope is a Coriolis vibratory gyroscope (active component) manufactured at silicon level. ASIC actuates a movement in order to generate the velocity (𝑣Ԧ) needed to sense the angular rate (𝜴).
Gyroscope: Stand alone device capable to measure AC and DC angular rate along three orthogonal axes
