Solid State Relays

A solid state relay (SSR) with triac output of the manufacturer Cosmo and Excel Cell (ECE) is a device with a function similar to a mechanical relay, but purely on semiconductor-, non mechanical basis.
An infrared-LED is coupled optically to a power triac within one housing.
Most of the SSRs are available with zero-crossing circuit. This internal circuit makes the triac switch on or off only when the applied alternating voltage is near the zero-value.
