Inpaq’s new Ground Plane Antenna

This new Chip Antenna generation allow you to use the edge of your pcb as an Antenna. Available for GPS L1 and in near future for 2.4 GHz.

As an antenna is a LC resonate circuit, the notch is the inductance and the chip is the capacitance. The current travels in the edge of the PCB. The primary function of the notch size and component capacitance is setting center frequency and the length the PCB determines the efficiency.

The antenna is a modified dipole. The antenna requires a keep out area (no Ground plane under component). The component has to be place on edge of PCB. The best performance component equal distance the corner of PCB. In other words, the performance in crease if you enlarge the length if pcb size.
