Thyristor

The silicon based thyristors of ProTek Devices and FCI are crowbar devices. Due to their characteristic they are able to handle high surge currents at higher trigger voltages.
Thyristors are switchable devices, which are non-conducting in the initial state and are switched-on by a small gate current. After the activation the device is also conducting without a gate current. Thyristors are switched-off by falling below the holding current.

Main Features
  • bidirectional crowbar transient voltage protection
  • Size: SMB housing (DO-214AA) and through-hole types
  • breakdown voltages from 77 to 400V
  • typical capacitance of 30 - 120pF
  • ESD protection < 40kV
  • suitable for telecommunication and RF-application
